Upcoming
Events
The spring season
has arrived, as the first three
months of the New Year is a
distant memory.  I would like
to thank everyone that
participated in our first 2
parades of the season in
Baltimore, as we had great
turnouts for each event.
The St. Pats parade was a
little chilly as we waited for
our #57 spot in the lineup. In
the Greek Independence
day parade, we were #60 in
that lineup, and each time
we had around 50 members
participating.
During this month,
we of course will be having
our weekly rehearsals, but
we will also have a special
event in Easton.  On
Saturday the 19th, we will be
heading east bound for a
300th anniversary parade in
downtown Easton.  The bus
will be departing
Westminster at 12 noon for
the 3:00 p.m. parade.  This
is a special event for the
Easton fire company, as
they will be celebrating
their 200th year of
continuous volunteer fire
service.  There will be a
huge amount of onlookers
for this event, so we need to
make sure that we represent
the City as we normally do.
In other words, we need to
have a great turnout as we
are also receiving $1500.00
for the job.  The parade
starts at 3 p.m, at Idlewild
Park, just off of Route 50.
There will be a total of 10
bands including us and also
our old Delaware
competitors, the Smyrna

Band.  There will also be
some high school bands
and the Mummers from
Philadelphia.  Closing the 2-
hour parade will be the
Budweiser Clydesdales.
The parade route is 1 mile
long.  After the parade,
there will be a block party at
the fire station at Aurora
Park, with lots of food and
beverage while the Great
Train Robbery Band plays.
The parade chairman said
that we are a huge favorite
and they can’t wait to hear
us.  They always enjoy our
performances at the ocean
every year.  It sounds like a
great deal of fun, so please
make arrangements to join
us. We will hang around for
a little while afterwards, so
our return time will depend
on that.
We are also starting to get
the calendar booked, so
please eye up the schedule
that is attached.
The deadline for
Ocean City has come and
gone so if you have not yet
contacted me on this,
please do so now.  The date
for the fireman’s convention
is June 16 – 18.
We are also getting a
clothing order together, so if
you would like to get some
band clothing, please turn in
the form with your money by
the 21st of this month.
In the month of
May, we will have several
jobs, but on Memorial Day,
the 26th, we be taking a
group photo in the morning.
Our last group shot was in
2000, so we figured that it
was time again to have it
done.  I am working out the
details and will let you know
next month.  The photo will be
taken before the Westminster
parade, which starts at 10
a.m., so I am thinking right
now that we will be meeting
by 8 a.m. or so to get this
accomplished.
I would like to
welcome 3 new members to
our roster. Cathi & Darryl
Whitcomb are from
Reisterstown.  Cathi will be in
our percussion section and
Darryl will be joining the ranks
of our Great Color guard.
Also, Bernie Harmon has also
joined the ranks of our
percussion section.  It is great
to have all of you.
We have also created
a new position for the band
and that is Historian.  Earl
Lambert has graciously
agreed to head this
committee, so that we can
keep better tract of our
history.  If you have any old
photos or stories, please
make sure that Earl gets
them.
Just a reminder that
the Sax’s & Baritones have
cleanup on Monday and the
percussion and basses have it
next month.  That’s it for now,
see you at rehearsal.
