This month begins the busy
parade and concert season,
which followed another
rehearsal season that
recently just ended. I want
to thank everyone that came
out to rehearsal during the
past 7 months. I believe
that our concerts will sound
great again and the parade
marches do also. Speaking
of concerts, we will start our
month off with the traditional
Strawberry Social at the
Pleasant Valley Fire Dept.
on Saturday the 17th. We
will play from 4 until 7 p.m.
in the Social Hall. As we
have done in the past, we
will play till about 5:15, and
then take a break. The
dinner will be provided to all
band members that are
present. There will also be
the traditional ice cream with
strawberries available also
for a small cost. For those
newcomers, take Route 140
West from Westminster and
turn right onto Hughes Shop
road. Follow that until the
stop sign and then turn left,
which will run you right into
the fire hall. Please arrive
by 3:30 p.m.
The parades will
kick off with a Sunday trip
on the 25th to Columbia Pa.
The bus will depart the band
hall at 11:30 a.m. for the 2
p.m. parade. We should
return by no later then 5
p.m.
The following day
will be the Westminster
Memorial day parade, but
preceding the parade will be
our photo shoot. The band
photo will be taken at the

Remember:
If the snow
emergency plan is in
effect for any Monday
evening, rehearsals
will be cancelled.
Westminster fitness center
on Longwell Avenue on the
front steps. This was also
known as the old Armory.
Please arrive at the fitness
center by 8:00 a.m., so that
we can get everybody
assembled. We will than
have to meet at the band
hall for the trip to the
beginning of the parade.
We will be departing the hall
at 9:30 a.m. For the
afternoon, it looks as though
we will not have anything to
do this year. I was informed
that Taneytown would not
be having a parade
because of the street
construction. That will be
the first time in many, many
years; I am thinking 50
years or better, that we will
only have one gig on
Memorial Day. So, enjoy
your afternoon.
On Wednesday the
28th, we will travel to Union
Bridge for their fireman’s
parade. The parade will
kickoff at 7 p.m. at the
corner of Route 75 and
Main St. Please arrive by
6:30 p.m.
Some early June
jobs will be the ice cream
social at Timber Ridge on
Sunday the 1st. We will play
from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Timber Ridge is located in
Westminster off of Stoner
Avenue. From the band
hall, go to Main Street and
head East to Center Street.
Take a right on Center and
follow that to Stoner Ave
and take a left. Timber
Ridge will be on your left.
On Wednesday the
4th, it will be time for the New
Windsor parade starting at 7
p.m. We will be lining up in
front of the fire hall. From
Westminster, take Route 31
directly into New Windsor.
On Saturday the 7th,
we will be going to Strasburg
Pa. for the Lancaster County
fireman’s parade. The bus
will be leaving the hall at
11:30 a.m. for this parade.
We should again return by 5
p.m.
In other news, the
uniform man will be at the
band hall on Monday the 12th
for those members that were
measured earlier in the year
and they do not fit. Please be
at the hall by 6:30 p.m., so
that he can get these figured
out.
I would like to
welcome Elizabeth Crofoot
into the clarinet section. Yes
that’s right, she is the
daughter of Chris.
That’s it for now, just
a reminder that rehearsals are
over and will resume in
October.
