May closed with a bang as
we had a tremendous group
for the Westminster
Memorial Day parade.  Our
50 musicians in uniform
sounded outstanding and
the band front consisting of
a total of 17 including our 2
banner carriers and Drum
Major finished off a fabulous
parade.  I cannot thank
everyone enough for your
time and dedication to this
strong growing
establishment.  I also want
to thank Kiley Alcorn for
doing a great job in getting
the wreath to the cemetery.
If you are wondering, she is
the daughter of John, who
played the Bass Drum in the
parade.  The photo
beforehand went well also,
as the group was taken on
the old Armory steps.  I will
notify you when the proofs
are available.  The
Columbia parade went well
also, as we had around 50
for that one.  The weather
could not have been better.
I would also like to thank
everyone that participated in
the Pleasant Valley concert.
Another job well done.
We have several
jobs this month, starting with
the Timber Ridge concert on
Sunday the 1st at 2:30 p.m.
This facility is located on
Bishop Street off of Stoner
Ave in Westminster, right
below the Carroll Hospital
Center.  On Wednesday the
4th, we will be in New
Windsor for their 7 p.m.
parade.  Take Route 31
from Westminster to New
Windsor, and the parade will

line up at the old middle
school.  Our next parade
will be in Taneytown on
Wednesday the 11th starting
at 7 p.m.  This parade will
lineup at the corner of East
Baltimore St and Trevanion
Rd.  at the State bank.  The
following week is Ocean
City week.  Please don’t
forget your green polo shirts
and tee shirts.  We will be
wearing them throughout
the week.  A schedule of
events will be at the front
desk when you check in.
Please have your uniforms
in great shape, such as
getting them cleaned for this
one.
When we return
from the beach, the
weekend of the 28th will be
very popular for us.  On
Saturday the 28th, it is River
Valley Ranch.  The concert
will start at 7 p.m.  This
ranch is located on Grave
Run Rd. outside of
Hampstead.  Contact me for
directions. The following
day, Sunday the 29th, it will
be our annual concert in
Thurmont, starting at 6 p.m.
Take Route 77 from Keymar
and you will run directly into
the park on your left in
Thurmont.
I forgot to mention
about the parade on the 7th
of June in Strasburg, PA.
We took a poll during our
Memorial Day parades, and
our attendance for that one
was going to be extremely
light because of graduations
and other things.  We
decided to cancel instead
of going with 15 or so
members.  So, that will be
missing from our schedule.
An early July job will
be the Manchester parade on
Tuesday the 1st.  This parade
will start at 7 p.m. directly
behind the firehouse.  And
than of course the 4th jobs will
follow, with the bus leaving on
Friday the 4th at 9 a.m. and on
Saturday the 5th at 11:30 a.m.
We need to keep out
thoughts and prayers with
William Myers, our member in
our clarinet section.  Willie will
be going through some
extensive tests to alleviate
fluid buildup on his brain and
spine.  We will keep you
posted on his condition.
Please keep in mind
for our concerts that the short
sleeve shirts will be the norm
unless you are told otherwise.
We all should have purchased
a short sleeve shirt for this.  I
noticed at the Valley, we were
once again in many different
sleeve lengths.  We talked
about this extensively last
season, and we all agreed to
go with the short sleeves.
Please adhere with the
uniform dress code.
A parade in Delaware
could be on the horizon.
Please pencil in your
calendars now, September
13th.  This is not yet official,
but very close.  Bus will be
leaving at 9:30 a.m.
