We have returned from our
annual vacation at the
beach and as always, the
time really went fast.  I want
to thank all of the members
that participated this year,
as we had another
outstanding performance, in
which we captured first
place in the parade with 39
musicians, 9 in the Color
guard, 1 drum major, and 2
banner carriers.
Let’s talk a bit on
our award winning Color
Guard.  They started the
season out with a first place
finish in the Columbia
Memorial Day parade, and
they kept it up with another
first place finish in the
Ocean City parade in the
non-fire service category.
These guys and gal are
really great stuff.
I should mention
that my wife Karen has
joined the ranks of the Color
Guard, and she loves it.
Her position as banner
carrier has been filled by
Karen Griesmyer and she
and Jennifer Mora have
been doing an excellent job
out front.
The days at the
ocean prior to the parade
were great, as we had
fantastic weather.  I can’t
remember a better day for
the parade than we had this
year.  Our friends from
Capital Heights had the
pizza and beer waiting for
us again after the parade.
Bob and his gang are great,
and we really appreciate
their hard work.  The
opening ceremonies went

well also, as we sounded
great with no miscues.
I also want to thank
everyone that participated in
the New Windsor and
Taneytown parade early in
June.  I surely hope that we
have these parades
continue, but I am pretty
sure that we will not be in
Taneytown for a while, as
they will be starting the
street construction soon.
Our first gig of the month,
the Timber Ridge concert,
went very well. We once
again played indoors since
the rains came before we
arrived there.
The month of July is
our busiest month out of the
whole year. We will start out
in Manchester on Tuesday
the 1st.  This parade forms
directly behind the fire hall
in the alley and moves
promptly at 7:00 with us
leading.
Two parades on the
4th follow with the bus
leaving at 9 a.m. for the
Kingsville parade.  After the
11 a.m. parade, the bus will
move to Catonsville for the
3 p.m. parade.  Lunch will
be provided for us at the
Knights of Columbus.
The following day,
the bus will depart at 11:30
a.m. for the Havre De Grace
parade that starts at 2 p.m.
We should return by 5:30 at
the latest for both of these
days.
Also on the 6th, we
will be at Trinity Lutheran
church for a short concert.
Sandy will have more
details for you on this.
The following week,
we will be in Winfield on
Wednesday (yes,
Wednesday!) the 9th at 7 p.m.
This parade starts at the Ace
hardware Store on Salem
Bottom Road, just off of Rt.
26.
The following evening
we will travel to Thurmont for
their parade which steps off at
6:30 p.m.  Note the time on
this one.  For those that don’t
know, take Uniontown Road
from Westminster and follow it
all the way connecting to
Route 77 (crossing Rt. 194) in
Keymar then continuing
straight into Thurmont. The
parade forms on Blue Ridge
Ave. which will be on your left.
The Mt. Airy parade
follows on Thursday the 24th
at 7 p.m.  This parade forms
at the Elementary school on
Main St. in Mt. Airy.  Take
Route 27 from Westminster
and then turn right onto Main
Street.
The month ends with
a parade in Baltimore for the
Fire Expo.  The bus will
depart at 7:30 a.m. for the 9
am start.  We should return by
no later than 11 a.m.
Yes, a total of 9 jobs
for the month.
I would like to
welcome Mark Gabrielle into
the ranks of the percussion
section.  Mark has much
experience has he played with
other Drum and Bugle Corps
throughout his career.
Welcome Mark.
That’s it for now, see
you soon
